ORIENTATION 2019-2020

VALLEJO

Willie B. Adkins Scholars Program Vallejo Important Dates


Orientation 2019-2020 Monday August 26, 2019- Vallejo High School Auditorium 6:30pm-7:30pm. All Parents and Scholars need to attend. 


August 30, 2019- No more out of District applications will be accepted for the Vallejo Program.


Sunday September 8, 2019- UCan HBCU College Fair.  Required for all Seniors and Juniors who attend out of district school. See below for information.


Monday, September 9, 2019- FIRST DAY OF PROGRAM! Student’s need to report to their assigned sites. Vallejo Middle School- Annex PD Center 5:30pm Study Hall and 6:30pm Program begins Jesse Bethel High School Library 5:30pm Study Hall and 6:30pm Program begins. MUST BE IN UNIFORM. 


Tuesday, September 10, 2019- UCAN HBCU College Fair. Required for all Seniors and Juniors who attend Vallejo City Unified School District Schools. See Information below. 


Saturday, September 21, 2019-Mandatory Senior Parent/Student College Admissions Bootcamp. Cal Maritime 9:00am-3:00pm. 


Monday, September 23, 2019- Joint Meeting @ Vallejo High School. All Scholars report to Vallejo High School Library. Study Hall @ 5:30pm Program begins at 6:30pm. Parent Meeting 7:30pm-8:30pm Vallejo High School Auditorium. 


Saturday, September 28, 2019- Mandatory SAT/ACT Bootcamp for Seniors and Juniors 9:00am-3:00pm Cal Maritime. 


Monday, September 30, 2019- Out of District Assessment fee due. 


Saturday, October 5, 2019- SAT/ACT Bootcamp Sophomores and Freshmen 9am-3pm Cal Maritime.

STOCKTON 

Stockton Program:


Wednesday September 4, 2019 FIRST DAY OF PROGRAM!- Chavez High  6:30 pm Program begins. Must be in Uniform. 


Wednesday September 11, 2019 (AM) UCAN HBCU College Fair
Edison High School.  Required for all Seniors and Juniors. See registration information below.

Information for Vallejo and Stockton Programs. We are Requiring all Seniors and Juniors in both programs to attend this College Fair. 


If you are a out of District Scholar enrolled in the Vallejo Program you will need to register and attend the college fair happening on:

CHECK LIST:

SENIORS are encouraged to bring the following items to the College Fair to ensure they receive “ON-THE-SPOT” admissions and scholarship consideration:

  1. An official transcript, if available, (in a sealed envelope with school seal) for each college application you plan to complete (See flyer for list of colleges);
  2. A copy of your SAT/ACT score (if taken) for each college application you plan to complete;
  3. An unofficial transcript for other colleges to review;
  4. Letter(s) of recommendation (if available); and
  5. Personal Essay (if available).

NOTE: Some of the colleges will accept students who have a minimum 2.0 GPA and who have not yet taken the SAT/ACT


JUNIORS and OTHERS should bring the following:

  1. An unofficial transcript for colleges to review and
  2. 10 to 12 labels with your name, address, school, grade, current GPA and intended major to be given to each college you want to send you additional information


ALL STUDENTS will be able to receive:

  • Information regarding each of the colleges represented at the College;
  • Application fee waivers for many of the colleges represented; and

ACT/SAT information and Financial aid information.

2019-2020 Application for new and returning scholars is now OPEN. 


VALLEJO CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT:

Those who live and attend school outside of the Vallejo City Unified School District and are interested in applying, the last day for applications is 
August 30, 2019. 

Students enrolled in the Vallejo City Unified School District may still apply.


STOCKTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT:
Stockton Unified School District Applicants can still apply. No Family Interview required.

100 Men Who Can Cook Fundraiser

We will be hosting our 34th Annual 100 Men Who Can Cook Fundraiser. The date is Sunday November 3, 2019. 

We will be hosting 2 dinner sessions 1:30pm-3:30pm and 3:30pm-5:30pm. 


You can purchase your tickets from a Scholar beginning in September. **Online purchases will not be credited toward your scholar.**  


Gentlemen if you are interested in volunteering as cook, please complete the online form.
